In a stunning reversal of events, race stewards at Churchill Downs yesterday disqualified the winner of the Kentucky Derby in #7 Maximum Security for interference, something that had never happened before in the 145 year history of the race. The interference was said to have affected #1 War of Will, #18 Long Range Toddy and #21 Bodexpress. Long-shot, #20 Country House at 65-1, who was running to the outside of Maximum Security around the far turn when the incident took place, was declared the winner, while #13 Code of Honor and #8 Tacitus were elevated to second and third. Before the controversial disqualification, the Handicap Wizard had the winner with its second selection in Maximum Security. Code of Honor and Tacitus were 5th and 6th in the program’s ranking, while Country House was 12th.
