By Friday’s racing action is highlighted by two turf stakes at Saratoga as anticipation builds for Saturday’s Grade 1, $1.25 million Travers Stakes.
The $200,000 West Point Stakes brings together accomplished New York-breds at 1 1/16 miles. Leading contenders include Mi Bago, Spirit of St Louis and George Briggs, while the improving Sounds Like a Plan adds further intrigue to a competitive field.
The Grade 3, $225,000 Waya Stakes follows at 1 3/8 miles for fillies and mares. Storm Miami, graded-stakes contender Silvology, Irish-bred Evershed and the Shadwell-owned Massarat are among the notable runners entered in the turf marathon.
Friday serves as the lead-in to a tremendous Travers Day card on Saturday, headlined by Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner Golden Tempo in Saratoga’s celebrated “Mid-Summer Derby.”
Pro-Handicap Analytics will provide complete Friday coverage of Saratoga, Monmouth Park and Del Mar, with the Track-IQ Report, Overlay Map and Alpha Signal available for all three cards.
